WHY JOIN ROTARY?

Rotary is dedicated to causes that build international relationships, improve lives, and create a better world to support our peace efforts and end polio forever.

There are 7 areas of focus:

Promoting peace

Rotary encourages conversations to foster understanding within and across cultures. We train adults and young leaders to prevent and mediate conflict and help refugees who have fled dangerous areas.

Fighting disease

We educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases like polio, HIV/AIDS, and malaria. We improve and expand access to low-cost and free health care in developing areas.

Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene

We support local solutions to bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to more people every day. We don’t just build wells and walk away. We share our expertise with community leaders and educators to make sure our projects succeed long-term.

Saving mothers and children

Nearly 6 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, poor health care, and inadequate sanitation. We expand access to quality care, so mothers and their children can live and grow stronger.

Supporting education

More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.

Growing local economies

We carry out service projects that enhance economic and community development and create opportunities for decent and productive work for young and old. We also strengthen local entrepreneurs and community leaders, particularly women, in impoverished communities.

Protecting the environment

Rotary members are tackling environmental issues the way they always do: coming up with projects, using their connections to change policy and planning for the future.

Two types of membership

HIVE ROTARY MEMBER

Rotary is about people. People who give and people who need.   Rotary is made up of nearly 1.2 million people that make decisions and get things done. A true Rotarian is a unique individual – someone who sees and believes in ‘ service above self’ the Rotarian motto.

To become a member of Hive you can bring a project to the table , join an existing project of just help out when and where you can – quite simply – you do you!

The Hive is looking for members who want to make a difference and have the confidence, passion and enthusiasm to jump onboard and join a club never seen before in our Rotary district – driven by youth and women for youth and women.

Membership fees:

  • Adult: $295 per year ($147.50 invoiced in July and January)
  • Student: $147.50 per year ($73.75 invoiced in July and January)
FRIEND OF HIVE ROTARY

In addition to Rotary membership, we offer a ‘Friends of Hive Rotary’ program.

The primary role of the Friends of Rotary program is to provide an opportunity for community minded people to become connected to our club. In addition, such Friends of Rotary would have a vehicle through which to volunteer their time and become connected to their community.

Reasons for someone choosing to become a Friend of Rotary, as opposed to becoming a regular Rotary member might include time constraints or other commitments. Nevertheless, they would still seek to be actively involved in their community. Friends of Rotary are more than welcome to extend their membership, to become a full Hive member at any time.

  • $25.00 per year
